At a Sunday rally in Dubuque, President Donald Trump said Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) had been a little bit heavier. The rally was held for Hinson, who is running for Senate, and other Iowa Republicans. Trump said he had known Hinson for a long time.
Trump said Hinson went on a regimen and put herself in shape, adding that she is in perfect shape. He said she did it for the audience. Trump said she lost the weight the old-fashioned way rather than with a shot, and he mimed an injection.
Trump said Hinson had asked him not to discuss the topic, telling him to please not do this. He also said he had put on a couple of pounds himself and wondered how Hinson managed it.
A protester interrupted Trump during the remarks and was removed while the crowd chanted "USA." Trump then claimed that protesters at his rallies are paid $250 by George Soros, and said there are usually two or three per rally. The claim is Trump's own and was not substantiated.
