On Wednesday, President Trump touted construction of the White House ballroom in his first appearance after Republicans lost control of Congress. He signed the final steel beam and said Vice President JD Vance's claim about the Iran war was largely true. An FAA notice lists flight restrictions over Palm Beach for Nov. 6-8.
President Donald Trump touted construction of his White House ballroom on Wednesday, hours after Republicans suffered a midterm election defeat that cost the party control of both chambers of Congress. It was his first public appearance after the midterms, and he largely skirted talk about his party's performance. His party lost control of Congress and suffered defeats in states nationwide in the election the day before.
Trump signed the final steel beam of the ballroom, writing "Love!" above his signature. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum signed after him. The beam also carries the names of workers who have worked on the ballroom for months.
Asked about Vice President JD Vance's statement that Republicans lost because of the war on Iran, Trump said he thinks it is largely true because it drove gasoline prices up a little bit short term. Vance had made the claim in a social media post blaming the war for GOP losses.
On Monday, Trump spent most of his final pre-election speech at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool touting renovations he ordered around Washington, D.C. He devoted little time to the midterms in that speech.
An FAA notice to pilots indicates VIP-level flight restrictions are expected from Nov. 6-8 over Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. The temporary flight restriction lists a VIP movement notification but does not identify the person traveling. The notice indicates Trump may travel to Palm Beach on Friday, Nov. 6, after going to Cape Canaveral. Trump is expected to return to Mar-a-Lago this weekend for a post-election stay.
