The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Austin Reed to their practice squad after two of their quarterbacks were injured in Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The team announced the move on November 2, 2026, and the signing took place on Monday. To make room for Reed, the Ravens waived fullback Lucas Scott from the practice squad.

Injuries at quarterback

Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both went down during the loss to the Bills. Jackson suffered a thumb injury and will miss at least four more games. He is to undergo thumb surgery and be placed on injured reserve. Huntley, the backup, injured his toe in the second quarter and was replaced by undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano.

Fagnano, the third-string quarterback, entered after the injuries to Jackson and Huntley. In his regular-season debut, he completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception and a lost fumble.

Who is Austin Reed

Reed is 26 and played for the UFL's Dallas Renegades in the spring. He spent part of training camp and the preseason with the Ravens. In the preseason, he appeared in all three games and completed six of 12 passes for 59 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also ran for a 14-yard touchdown. Reed previously played under Baltimore offensive coordinator Declan Doyle in 2025, when Doyle held the same job with Chicago.

Looking ahead to Thursday

The Ravens play the Jacksonville Jaguars on "Thursday Night Football" later this week. One account says Reed will probably be the backup quarterback on Thursday unless the team adds someone who knows the offense better.
