Bryce James, the middle child of LeBron James, made his college basketball debut starting for No. 4 Arizona in its season opener against UCLA on Monday, Nov. 2. UCLA upset Arizona 84-75 in the game, part of the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas.
James started but played only six minutes, three in each half, and did not score. He went 0-for-3 from the field and finished with one assist. JJ Mandaquit played the majority of the game in relief of James.
James opened the game with a no-look assist to Ivan Kharchenkov for the game's first basket. The pass came in the first minute and was the first bucket of the season for Arizona.
James is 19 years old and redshirted last season as a freshman. He had started all three of Arizona's exhibition games before the 2026-27 season.
