Celtic host Besiktas at Celtic Park on Thursday, November 5, in matchday four of the UEFA Europa League league phase. The Scottish side have lost all three of their opening league-phase matches and have collected no points. Those defeats came against Ferencvaros, Benfica and Celta Vigo, and Celtic drew blanks in all three. The club hope to end the losing run and earn their first European points.

Celtic lost 2-0 away to Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership on the Sunday before the Besiktas match. It was their sixth defeat in their last 10 matches across all competitions, with three wins in that period.

Manager Martin O'Neill made a number of changes from the side that lost at Falkirk. Jordan Lotomba was making his first start, and the front three was Kasper Hogh, Sebastian Tounekti and James Forrest. Celtic have injury issues with Alistair Johnston and Yang Hyun-Jun.

Besiktas are unbeaten in the league phase, with seven points from their first three matches. They are without Orkun Kokcu and Fabio Miretti through injury. Defender Umit Akdag is suspended after being sent off against Crystal Palace.
