Republican U.S. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar and Democratic challenger Eliott Rodriguez competed in the Nov. 3 race for Florida's 27th Congressional District. Rodriguez is a former CBS Miami anchor. The district stretches from downtown Miami to Cutler Bay.

Florida's general election was held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Polls opened at 7 a.m. local time and were to close at 7 p.m. EST.

Salazar, first elected in 2020, is seeking a fourth term and has held the seat since 2021. Rodriguez is making his first run for Congress after more than four decades in journalism.

Salazar publicly broke from President Trump over immigration enforcement in a campaign ad. In the ad, recorded in front of the White House, she said Trump's immigration policies had gone too far. Salazar voted for the 2025 federal tax-and-spending law, which provided $45 billion for immigration detention.

The district, entirely within Miami-Dade County, includes Miami, Coral Gables, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay. Almost three in four residents are Latino, and SNAP is used by 17% of households in the district.
