Fortnite replied on X that buying an account or using fake tools is a scam, and that the token is like any chest in Battle Royale. The reply said every player has an equal opportunity to find Pirate Shop Access. Epic's statement responded to a Pirat_Nation post reporting that the Pirate Shop hunt had become a small black market. The post described paid carries, AFK farming tools, and attempts to sell accounts for $10,000.

The black market claims

On November 3, 2026, PiratNation posted on X that a black market had formed around the Pirate Shop Token. According to the post, players were offering paid carries, selling AFK farming tools, and selling accounts with the token for up to $10,000. Epic's rules prohibit buying and selling accounts. Its Community Rules also ban cheating, exploiting bugs and glitches, and promoting known exploits, and violations can lead to warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans.

What the token does

The Pirate Shop access token makes the whole Fortnite Item Shop free for 14 days. It is the most sought-after item in Treasure Hunters. The Pirate Shop was added as part of the Treasure Hunters mini-season, giving lucky players two separate 14-day windows to claim eligible Item Shop cosmetics for free. The token can be activated once before Dec. 15, 2026, and then again before Dec. 15, 2027.

Finding and sharing it

The Pirate Shop reward is tied to the account that finds it and cannot be transferred. If one squad member finds the token, every teammate gets it. Likewise, if a teammate receives a treasure, everyone on the team gets the same reward. Blortzen estimates the token drop rate at about 1 in 2,000 chests, though the estimate cannot be confirmed and he admits it may be wrong.

Season context

Fortnite's treasure hunting season includes a One Piece collaboration. One Piece is the headline collaboration for this season.
