Hinojosa has proposed $1,500 payments to Texas households, an electricity rate freeze and a suspended state gas tax. She said she would pause data center approvals if elected governor. A Travis County judge ordered Abbott-Musk emails released, but an appeals court stay blocks that for now.
Cost-of-living proposals
Hinojosa's proposals include $1,500 payments to Texas households, freezing electricity rates and suspending the state gas tax. She proposed giving $1,500 to every Texas household through what she dubbed the Greg Abbott corruption tax refund. She also proposed suspending the state gas and diesel tax and reining in health insurance companies.
Data centers
Hinojosa said that if elected governor she would put a pause and moratorium on data center approvals. The pause would last until laws are passed giving El Paso and Texas residents a say in whether and how data centers come into communities.
Abbott-Musk emails
A Travis County judge ruled for Hinojosa and ordered the emails released. Abbott appealed, and the Fifteenth Court of Appeals issued a stay, so the emails will not be released until a final decision. Hinojosa said she believes the redacted Abbott-Musk emails will show that Abbott sold Texans out.
