Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., is expected to introduce articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth when Congress returns next week. President Trump says Hegseth is doing a good job, while Rep. Adam Smith says Hegseth should be removed.

Representative Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, is expected to introduce articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth when Congress returns next week. The possible impeachment vote follows Republican losses in Tuesday's midterm elections.

Massie introduced eight articles of impeachment against Hegseth in September. He said that unless Hegseth resigns, he plans to reintroduce them when Congress returns from the midterm recess. Massie had previously disclosed plans to force a vote on the impeachment articles when the House returns following the midterm elections.

President Trump told reporters he believes Hegseth is doing a good job. Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., is expected to take over leadership of the House Armed Services Committee next year. Smith said he long ago said Hegseth is not qualified and should be removed, and that he thinks Democrats will pursue that.
