Indiana executed Jeffrey Weisheit early Thursday, 5 November, by lethal injection at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. He was on death row for the 2010 murders of siblings Alyssa and Caleb Lynch in an arson attack in Vanderburgh County.

Indiana executed Jeffrey Weisheit early Thursday morning for the 2010 murders of two young children in Evansville. He died by lethal injection inside the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City in the early hours of Thursday, 5 November. The Indiana Department of Correction says he died at 12:45 a.m. Central time.

Weisheit, 50, was ordered executed for the 2010 murders of siblings Alyssa and Caleb Lynch, aged 8 and 5 respectively. He was on death row for killing the children in an arson attack in Vanderburgh County. Weisheit fled Indiana after the crime and was arrested in Kentucky.

Gov. Mike Braun said state and federal courts had repeatedly reviewed the case since Weisheit's 2013 conviction without overturning his sentence. Braun said the State Parole Board unanimously recommended denying Weisheit's final clemency appeal and that the execution proceed as scheduled. Attorney General Todd Rokita said after the execution that the state was delivering long-awaited justice for Alyssa and Caleb.

According to the Indiana Department of Correction, Weisheit had no final words. His last meal request was barbecue ribs, and he was pronounced dead 45 minutes later. The meal included ribs from Texas Corral and Mountain Dew.
