The Minnesota Vikings lost 19-15 to the Detroit Lions in Week 8, their first loss of the season. The Vikings were 6-1 after the loss.

Justin Jefferson found the end zone at Ford Field but finished with five catches on nine targets for 33 yards. Kyler Murray targeted him nine times, and Jefferson had five receptions, 33 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Murray finished 17-of-29 passing and suffered hamstring soreness during the game. His status for the Week 9 game against the Bills had not been decided, according to offensive coordinator Wes Phillips.

Murray has thrown only five touchdowns this season, about halfway through the season. Jason McCourty faulted Murray for not pulling the trigger on open throws. McCourty also argued that Kevin O'Connell shares responsibility.
