The Supreme Court on Nov. 2, 2026, rejected the Trump administration's request involving about 20,000 California mail ballots. The 2026 midterms were set for Tuesday, Nov. 3, and networks outlined their election-night coverage.

The US Supreme Court rejected President Donald Trump's bid to block the counting of 20,000 mail-in ballots in California. On Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, it turned down the Trump administration's request to force California to separate about 20,000 mail ballots from people the government claims are noncitizens. The order was one line, unsigned and carried no noted dissents. The ruling came just hours after Trump said in a nationally televised speech that the country was booming.

The 2026 midterm elections take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Republicans and Democrats nationwide made their final appeals to voters on the eve of the elections.

Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett will co-anchor PBS News' election night coverage.

Fox News Channel's special FOX News Democracy 26 coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET Tuesday, co-anchored by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. "Ruthless Live! Midterm Election Show" will stream from 8-11 p.m. ET on Fox News Digital and FOX Nation.
