Ajax face FC Midtjylland in Denmark on Thursday on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Conference League. Kick-off is at 18:45, and the match can be watched live on Ziggo Sport Select. Ajax have several injured or unavailable players, so coach Míchel Sánchez must find a way to assemble a solid line-up.
Ajax began their Conference League campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Hajduk Split on October 15. They then won 2-0 against Atalanta in Amsterdam on Matchday 2. Ajax also beat AZ 1-0 before the Midtjylland match.
Midtjylland have picked up one point from their first two Conference League matches, a 1-1 draw with Egnatia and a 2-1 home loss to Sint-Truiden. They were still awaiting a first win in the competition. The Danish side have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last nine matches across all competitions. Head coach Mike Tullberg is 40 and previously worked at Borussia Dortmund, including a brief interim stint with the first team in early 2025.
Ajax won both previous meetings with Midtjylland, in the 2020-21 Champions League group stage.
