The American Hockey League announced on November 3, 2026 that Laval Rocket defenseman Luke Mittelstadt was selected as the Upper Deck AHL Rookie of the Month for October. Mittelstadt, 23, recorded five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 11 games in October, leading all AHL players in scoring. His 16 points were the most by an AHL rookie in the opening month of a season since Derick Brassard recorded 16 points in 12 games with Syracuse in October 2007.
Twelve of Mittelstadt's 16 points came on the power play. The Rocket rank first in the league on the power play at 29.2 percent, or 14-for-48. Mittelstadt scored goals in four consecutive contests from Oct. 10-17, including the overtime winner in a 5-4 decision at Belleville on Oct. 16.
Mittelstadt is a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., and was a seventh-round pick by Montréal in the 2023 NHL Draft. He made his pro debut with Laval last spring after completing his senior season at the University of Minnesota.
