Jack Lowden told British GQ that being linked to James Bond is flattering but that he is not going to add to the noise. He also responded to Gary Oldman, who said last month that he had his fingers crossed for him.

Jack Lowden responded to Gary Oldman's remark about his potential casting as James Bond in an interview with GQ. The British GQ interview, published Monday, was pegged to Netflix's Pride and Prejudice, in which he plays Mr. Darcy. Lowden said the speculation is very flattering and that it is nice to be mentioned for any role. He added that he is not really going to add to the noise.

Gary Oldman said last month that the new Bond had been chosen and that he had his fingers crossed for Lowden. Lowden called the endorsement very nice and particularly lovely coming from someone like Oldman. He said, though, that he doesn't really listen to it.

Lowden said that for a young male actor, once you're not playing a zany artist type and are in a suit, people fling the Bond idea at you. Lowden is part of a small group of actors eyed for the next James Bond, alongside Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor. Roger Friedman states that Callum Turner's wife is Dua Lipa.

Nina Gold, who cast Lowden as River Cartwright in Slow Horses, is leading the search for Bond alongside Villeneuve and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
