Alexa PenaVega wrote about the loss of her daughter in a memoir that she wrote with her husband Carlos PenaVega. Carlos and Alexa PenaVega experienced the stillbirth of their baby girl, Indy, in 2024. The couple announced in April 2024 that their fourth child, a daughter named Indy, had been stillborn.
An experience she could not explain
Alexa wrote that at 10 weeks pregnant, while the family was living on a boat, she had an experience she could not explain, and she wondered whether it was a vision or a voice. She described the message as saying that one of the two of them would not make it out, and that it could only be one. She wrote that it felt so clear and vivid that she never doubted it was real.
The pregnancy and the birth
Alexa described serious health problems during the pregnancy, including bleeding, extreme weakness and difficulty walking. She decided to give birth at home. After Indy was delivered, the midwife told Carlos the baby was not breathing, and emergency responders pronounced the baby dead. The family was given time to say goodbye at a hospital, where Alexa held Indy, while Carlos could not bring himself to hold her.
The couple have been married since 2014 and also have sons Ocean and Kingston and daughter Rio.
