CBS did not air new episodes of NCIS, NCIS: New York or NCIS: Origins on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, because of election coverage. CBS News: America Decides: Election 2026 took the 7 to 11 p.m. ET slot. The shows are set to return on Nov. 10 after a one-week break.
CBS pulled NCIS, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: New York from its regular Tuesday-night lineup on Nov. 3 for a short hiatus. The three series did not air new episodes that night because CBS pre-empted them for election coverage. Networks are carrying wall-to-wall coverage of the U.S. midterm elections on Election Night.
In place of its regular programming, CBS aired midterm election coverage, with CBS News: America Decides: Election 2026 starting at 7 p.m. Eastern. The broadcast ran from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, replacing the usual three-hour block of crime dramas.
The NCIS shows will return on Nov. 10 after a one-week break, with new episodes on CBS on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026. Promos for NCIS season 24, NCIS: New York season 1 and NCIS: Origins season 3 indicate none will release new episodes until then. NCIS: Origins returns with Season 3, Episode 5, "Baila Esta Cumbia," while NCIS Season 24 returns with Episode 5, "Speechless." NCIS: New York returns with Episode 5, "True Love."
Mark Harmon returns as Gibbs in NCIS: Origins Season 3, and Michael Weatherly returns as Tony DiNozzo and becomes director in NCIS Season 24. Previous episodes of the NCIS shows are available to stream on Paramount+.
