The story
"Twenty-Seven" is written and directed by Gregory Caruso. It follows a 27-year-old aspiring screenwriter, played by Hawke, who navigates his relationships and manages his obsessive-compulsive disorder while trying to break into the film industry.
Hopkins, 88, will portray the young man's friend and mentor. The character is an 80-year-old former television actor turned theater professor who is living with Parkinson's disease. Caruso said he wrote the character hoping someone like Hopkins would play him but never imagined it would actually be Hopkins.
