Jimmy Kimmel used his Tuesday night monologue to celebrate Democratic wins in the midterm elections. Democrats took control of the House and Senate and flipped governorships in Georgia, Iowa, Ohio and Texas. Kimmel joked about President Trump, J.D. Vance and election forecasts.
Jimmy Kimmel recapped the midterm election on Jimmy Kimmel Live, celebrating Democratic wins and Donald Trump's losses. He said Trump got his rear end handed to him in a blue wave as Democrats swept the House and Senate. On Tuesday night, Nov. 3, 2026, he said in his monologue that the blue wave made landfall and the Red Wedding was now beginning.
Variety reported that Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in Tuesday's elections. The party also flipped governorships in Texas, Ohio, Iowa and Georgia. Deadline reported that by 9 p.m. PT on election night, Democrats were sweeping into the majority in both chambers, and those four states had flipped to Democratic governors.
Kimmel joked about Trump and Nicki Minaj, saying the only thing on Trump's mind that night was what America had just handed him. He also referenced the talk about Minaj and Jon Husted before making that joke about Trump. He further joked that Democrats took so many seats that J.D. Vance could not find one to have sex with him that night.
Kimmel also joked that one Harvard election model made Republicans keeping the House about as likely as rolling a 20 on a 20-sided die. He closed by calling Trump officially a lame duck and an orange chicken at the same time.
